Thanks For A Great Year!!

With 2011 now underway, I want to take the chance to say thanks for a fantastic 2010!.  I want to thank the couples that I got the great pleasure of working with.  You guys truly were fantastic to work with and made 2010 an interesting and fun year!.  With 2010 being my first full year in my own business I truly couldn’t of asked for a better start.  My clients made me learn so much about myself and what I want out of my company.  I learned that making handmade custom invitations is what I truly love.  From meeting with people to ordering the paper to the countless hours of cutting and gluing, I love it all!!

I was pushed to see what I could really do and become comfortable and I loved it.  I loved how every job was different and had a different challenge for me.  With having custom invitations, nothing was the same, each wedding is so different now.  I knew I wanted to be able to work with the couple and customize for them and make it theirs, instead of them coming in and picking out of a book.

Again, I want to thank you all that were apart of my life in 2010 and thank you for allowing me to help with your big day.  Thanks!!

Are you a Bridezilla??

bridezilla

We have all heard the term “Bridezilla”, if you have not heard it one day you will, hopefully it is not someone calling you one.

A bridezilla is a term that is used to describe a bride that is unpleasant, demanding to everyone that is around.  Everyone from the family, to the bridesmaid and friends and vendors are not safe when this bride is around.

Many of us will say, I would never be a bridezilla, however we might have a little in us that we don’t even know about.

A bridezilla will make sure that everything they want they get.  It doesn’t matter who is paying for it or how much it costs, they want it. Bridezillas will take a kind gesture, like having their parents offer to pay for part of the wedding and they take it and run.  Show appreciation to any help that may be offered to you, and spend it wisely. Don’t have the attitude that it is your parents duty to pay for you big extravagant wedding.

Your wedding party, in particular your bridesmaids, are normally your closest friend and family members.  They are there to help you on your big day but do not take advantage of them.  A bridezilla will push relationships to their breaking point by expecting everyone to drop everything for them. Bridezillas seem to have the attitude that you must drop everything for them when they need it, and there are no excuses.  Bridezillas will also drop bridesmaids if they feel their photos are in jeopardy because maybe one the the bridesmaids got pregnant or have gained weight.

A bridezilla will talk about their wedding 24/7.  A conversation will consist of what they are doing and what they still need to do, and what other people are not doing.  During this conversation there will be no talk about anything else.  Any events that may take away from their planning they will not partake in.  However if they have this attitude you may not want them around anyways.

  •

Do you feel you are taking on traits of a Bridezilla, try these tips to steer you away from that direction

  • Show appreciation to any help that may be offered to you, and spend it wisely. Don’t have the attitude that it is your parents duty to pay for you big extravagant wedding.
  • Drama is inevitable when you put women together, however avoid any unnecessary drama by not creating your own.  Embrace any friends who are expecting or may feel overweight.  You may want to look into bridesmaid dresses that will flatter most body types, so maybe not a tight dress on a pregnant friend.
  • Although your bridesmaids are there  for you remember that they have things to do outside your wedding as well. Do not make your wedding a 24/7 thing for them,
  • Stay organized, once you get unorganized you will get frazzled and start putting the blame on others.  Use binders, spreadsheets and check lists to help you keep organized
  • Be realistic when it comes to budget, we all would love a royal wedding but realistically we can’t afford it.  Pick certain items you can cut back on so you can get the items you really want.
  • Have fun with your planning, get people involved including your groom to be.

Looking for something different….rose ceremony?

You will find  that there are many different ceremony ideas that you can bring into your own ceremony.  Wither it be ceremony candle lighting, a unity sand ceremony or a love letter ceremony, each symbolizes love. The candle ceremony is still one of the most popular, however what if you were looking for something a little different.  What about a rose ceremony? Since the rose represents love, respect and passion it has always been one of the most popular wedding flowers.  The good thing about a rose ceremony is you can make it represent what you want it to represent. It doesn't just have to be on the bachelor or bachelorette TV shows..

Ideas

Bride & Groom:  The bride and groom each have a rose and put them together in a small vase to represent unity between two.

Families:  The bride and groom and their parents each have a rose and they are all put together in a vase to represent the unity of two families.  Two colours of roses can me used here to distinguish two families uniting as one.  Incorporate children as well.

Between Couple & Wedding Party: The bride and groom and wedding party each have a rose and are put together in a vase.  Get your party involved!

However you decide to plan your ceremony, make it your own.  If you do not want to use roses, use a flower that is most important to you.  Kits are available that include all the items you will need to make your perfect ceremony.
